Schools across South Africa are back for the first term of 2026, but for many learners and their parents it can be a struggle to acquire all the necessary stationery to ensure smooth sailing in the classroom. Enter the North West Community Development Trust Back-to-School Stationery Drive, facilitated by Time Square Casino.

This programme aims to support learners in the Tshwane region by donating essential school stationery, improving readiness for learning, reducing financial pressure on families, and reinforcing the Trust’s as well as Time Square Casino’s commitment to community development.

Between January and Tuesday, 17 February 2026, representatives from Time Square facilitated the handover of vital supplies on behalf of the Trust to four schools:

· Meetseng Primary School, Soshanguve, with close to 200 learners in grades 1 to 3;

· Sunvalley Primary School, Mabopane, with more than 520 learners in grades 1 to 3;

· Bodubelo Primary School, Ga Rankuwa, with more than 230 learners in grades 1 to 3; and

· Bud-Mbelle Primary School in Atteridgeville with 250 learners in grades 1 to 3.

Each learner received a pack containing four exercise books, two blues pens, and one each pencil, eraser, ruler and sharpener, crayons for primary school learners and math sets for secondary school learners. All packs were age- and grade-appropriate. The value of the initiative was R317 400.

“Not only does the stationery drive promote access to learning resources, but it helps build sustainable partnerships with local schools and education stakeholders”, says Time Square general manager, Ruben Gooranah.
