The Edgar Legoale Foundation is proud to officially announce the Ngwathe Golf Experience 2026, taking place on Sunday, 20 September 2026, at Parys Golf Estate, under the theme:
“Driving Strategic Partnerships for Investment, Economic Growth, Tourism Development and Sustainable Transformation.”
The Ngwathe Golf Experience forms part of the broader Ngwathe Spring Experience 2026, an initiative established to create platforms that connect tourism, business, sport, culture, entertainment and local economic development during Tourism Month and Heritage Month.
More than a Golf Day, the initiative has been developed as a platform to bring together business leaders, corporate partners, government institutions, tourism stakeholders, investors, entrepreneurs, professionals and golf lovers while showcasing Parys and the broader Ngwathe area as a destination for tourism, business and investment.
The Foundation recognises that sustainable economic development requires meaningful collaboration between different sectors. Through the Ngwathe Golf Experience, the Foundation seeks to create an environment where these relationships can be strengthened while contributing towards the broader objective of growing tourism, encouraging investment and creating opportunities within the local economy.
GOLF, BUSINESS AND STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS
The theme of the Ngwathe Golf Experience reflects the Foundation’s belief that partnerships remain central to sustainable economic and community development.
Golf provides an environment in which participants from different professional and institutional backgrounds can engage outside traditional business settings. The Ngwathe Golf Experience seeks to use this environment to strengthen relationships between corporate South Africa, government institutions, tourism stakeholders, business organisations, entrepreneurs and other development partners.
The intention is not simply to host a successful sporting event, but to create a platform through which relationships established during the Experience can contribute towards broader conversations around investment, tourism development, economic growth and sustainable transformation.
POSITIONING NGWATHE AS A DESTINATION
The Ngwathe Golf Experience also forms part of the Foundation’s broader vision to strengthen the tourism profile of Ngwathe and position the municipality as a destination offering a diverse combination of tourism, business, sport, culture, heritage and entertainment experiences.
Parys already has an established tourism offering supported by accommodation establishments, restaurants, outdoor and adventure activities, heritage attractions, arts and lifestyle experiences. The Golf Experience provides an opportunity to introduce corporate guests, business leaders, professionals and other participants to this offering while encouraging greater movement into the local visitor economy.
The economic value of attracting visitors extends beyond the venue at which an event takes place. Visitors travelling to Parys have the potential to support accommodation establishments, restaurants, tourism businesses and other local service providers. The Foundation therefore seeks to ensure that the experiences developed under the Ngwathe Experience contribute towards creating opportunities for local businesses and communities wherever possible.
BUILDING ON THE NGWATHE EXPERIENCE
The Ngwathe Golf Experience builds on the broader vision of the Ngwathe Experience, which seeks to create sustainable platforms that connect people, business, tourism, culture, sport, entertainment and local economic development.
Building on the momentum created through the Ngwathe Easter Experience, the Spring programme has been developed to give different audiences different reasons to experience Ngwathe while creating opportunities for businesses, entrepreneurs, tourism establishments and communities to participate in the economic activity generated through these experiences.
The objective is not simply to host successful events, but to build a continuous programme through which Ngwathe can tell its story, promote its attractions, support local enterprise, attract visitors and create meaningful economic opportunities.
A SEPTEMBER PROGRAMME OF TOURISM AND OPPORTUNITY
The Ngwathe Golf Experience forms part of a broader September programme developed to create different platforms for tourism, business and community participation throughout Tourism Month and Heritage Month.
The programme includes:
- Ngwathe Tourism Expo – Friday, 4 September 2026 at Parys Airfield
- Ngwathe Business Breakfast – Thursday, 17 September 2026 at Woodlands Country Estate
- Ngwathe Golf Experience – Sunday, 20 September 2026 at Parys Golf Estate
- Ngwathe Spring Experience – Saturday, 26 September 2026 at Fezile Dabi Stadium
Each experience has its own purpose and audience while contributing towards a broader vision of positioning Ngwathe as a destination of opportunity and encouraging greater participation in the local tourism economy.

AN INVITATION TO CORPORATE SOUTH AFRICA
The Edgar Legoale Foundation invites businesses, corporate South Africa, government institutions, tourism stakeholders and other strategic partners to participate in the Ngwathe Golf Experience and support the broader vision behind the programme.
Corporate participation in the Golf Experience represents an opportunity to contribute towards a platform focused on strengthening partnerships, encouraging investment, supporting tourism development and creating greater economic participation within Ngwathe.
The Foundation believes that partnerships between the public sector, private sector, tourism industry and communities remain important to building sustainable local economies and ensuring that the opportunities created through tourism and events extend beyond the event itself.
THE VISION
The Ngwathe Golf Experience forms part of a longer-term vision to establish the Ngwathe Experience as a sustainable platform through which the municipality can promote its tourism potential, attract visitors, strengthen partnerships and create opportunities for local economic participation.
For the Edgar Legoale Foundation, the significance of the Golf Experience lies not only in the sporting programme, but in the opportunity to bring together people and institutions that can contribute towards the continued development of Ngwathe.
Through tourism, business, sport and strategic partnerships, the Foundation seeks to continue building platforms that strengthen the destination, support local enterprise and create opportunities that extend beyond individual events.
