Aerobics bring hope and awareness to Diepsloot’s Breast Cancer Drive

The spirit of health and unity came alive in Diepsloot on Saturday, 25 October 2025, as Region A Sports and Recreation, in collaboration with the Sedumedi Hope Foundation, hosted a vibrant aerobics session at Tenganani Sasol Garage. The event, which ran from 7am to 10am, drew an energetic crowd of fitness enthusiasts and community members, all dressed in pink to show solidarity in the fight against breast cancer.

Led by the dynamic Coach Mavis, participants moved in rhythm and determination, embodying the message that staying active and health-conscious plays a vital role in prevention and early detection.

Speaking at the event, Mandla Mahlangu, the City of Johannesburg’s Deputy Director for Region A, commended the partnership and community turnout. “Today is more than just about fitness; it’s about hope, awareness, and standing together. Through such initiatives, we show that wellness and compassion can go hand in hand,” said Mahlangu.

Adding a deeply personal touch, Didintle Motsuenyane, a breast cancer survivor and member of the Sedumedi Hope Foundation, encouraged participants to prioritise regular check-ups and self-awareness. “Early detection saved my life. I am living proof that with support and awareness, we can overcome this disease,” Motsuenyane shared.

The morning ended with joy, laughter, and reflection, reminding everyone that collective action and healthy living are powerful tools in the ongoing fight against breast cancer.
