The MEC of Finance and Economic Development will present the MediumTerm Budget Policy Statement and the Adjustment Budget

Gauteng Finance MEC Lebogang Maile has confirmed that the provincial government will deliver its mid-term budget statement next week Tuesday, 2 December, 2025, outlining key economic indicators, job-creation figures and preliminary data on the impact of the G20 Summit.

According to the MEC Maile, the province has created approximately 200,000 jobs over the past year a figure he says exceeds that of any other province.
Earlier estimates projected R3.6 billion in investment into the Gauteng Economy.
The MEC cautioned that the G20 outcomes should not be viewed solely in terms of the summit weekend, noting that the country’s hosting responsibilities began months ago.
He says the G20 started when they received the bidding and continued from January with various activities.

“We will provide preliminary figures for the weekend, but the full impact assessment will only be finalised by mid-January,” he said.
MEC Maile says the final report will evaluate the broader tourism effects, including festive-season travel patterns and the movement of international visitors who extended their stay in South Africa.
“Some G20 delegates and guests have travelled to other provinces such as Mpumalanga and Limpopo.”

The MEC also outlined the provincial government’s economic priorities, saying Gauteng has identified 12 focus sectors as part of its long-term growth plan. Among these are agro-processing, tourism, the digital economy, and manufacturing.

He added that Premier Panyaza Lesufi will elaborate further on these targets in the upcoming State of the Province Address, with additional details expected during the main budget speech in March.
